Theresa Dokas, 81, of the Lyndwood Section of Hanover Township, passed into eternal rest Sunday morning, March 24, 2013.
Born Oct. 9, 1931 in Wilkes Barre, she was the daughter of the late August and Anna (Poderis) Cerwonka. Theresa was a graduate of St. Nicholas High School, Class of 1949, and she attended Mansfield University. She was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, Lee Park, and a former member of St. Casimir's Church, Lyndwood, Hanover Township.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed at the Boston Store/Boscov's Department Store.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, on Aug. 14, 2001.
Surviving are her children, Judith DiFebo and husband, James, Wilkes Barre; Lorraine Young and husband, Paul, Shavertown; Peter Dokas and wife, Lori, Wilkes Barre; Mark Dokas, Wilkes Barre; Clare Stencavage and husband, George, Mountain Top; Christine Bottger and husband, Jay, Wilkes-Barre; Patricia Stec and husband, Gary, Sweet Valley, and Stephen Dokas and wife, Doreena, Hanover Township, with whom she resided. She also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; her brother, Clement (Bud) Cerwonka, Florida; her sister, Lillian Jimison and husband, Edward, Wilkes Barre; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, the former St. Aloyisius Church, Lee Park. Interment will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Muhlenburg.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
