Thomas Moran, 65, of Wyoming passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late Thomas and Veronica Harchar Moran. He was educated in the Exeter schools.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army
, serving during Vietnam. Tom was stationed in Germany, where he was a radio operator with the medical unit. He was very proud of his military service.
After returning from the military, he was employed by California Flower, formerly of West Pittston, where he met his wife, Irene Fronduti. He later became employed by the Wyoming Area School District as a custodian. For many years Tom could be found operating the security system monitoring the front doors and videos. He retired due to illness after being employed by the school district for 30 years.
Tom loved old classic movies and enjoyed researching the history of the character actors. When he was younger he enjoyed fishing and music of all kinds, ranging from the 1920s to the 1970s. Tom's greatest passion was reading books.
After treatment for lung cancer, open heart surgery, and the scarring of his lungs from radiation which at times made his breathing impossible, Tom never complained.
Remember Tom when you read a book, watch a great movie or hear your favorite song.
His best pal was Smudge the cat, who he missed terribly.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, the former Irene Fronduti; sister, Patsy Piechota, Dupont; brothers, Michael and David Moran, both of Dupont; several nieces and nephews.
