Vera J. Lisko

Vera J. Lisko, 93, of the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 16, 2013, at United Methodist Homes, Wesley Village Campus, Jenkins Township.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Vanyush Basalyga.

Vera was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, and was employed for 17 years by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Bear Creek, as clerk of permits.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church, Miners Mills.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Lisko Sr., on Oct. 30, 2009; brother, John Basalyga; sister, Anna Rudusky.

Surviving are her sons, Michael Lisko Jr. and his wife, Deanne, Plains Township; and David Lisko and his wife, Cynthia, Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren, Michael, Jason, Chrysa and Nika.

The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Township, with the Orthodox Requiem Service at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church, Miners Mills.

Private entombment will be held in St. Tikhon of Zadonsk Cemetery, South Canaan, at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
