Veronica Columbus

Veronica F. Columbus, 89, formerly of Washington Square Apartments and New Mallery Place in Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Mountain Top Senior Care.

Born Nov. 20, 1923, in Plains Township, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine Palcisko Shedlock.

Veronica was employed by Consolidated Cigar for several years and later by Empire Dress Co. until her retirement.

Veronica was a member of the Parish of St. Nicholas and the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union.

Six sisters and brothers preceded her in death.

She will be greatly missed by her son, Joseph A. and his wife, Mollie Columbus, Mountain Top; a sister, Elizabeth Rudowitz, Kingston; other family and friends.

A celebration of Veronica's life will begin at 11 a.m. Friday in the Church of St. Nicholas, 226 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Funeral Mass at noon.

Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to the , 57 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
