Wayne A. Lesko

Wayne A. Lesko, 62, of Falls Church, Va., a professor of psychology and former dean of the School of Education and Human Services at Marymount University, Arlington, Va., passed away following a long and courageous battle with esophageal cancer.

Dr. Lesko, a native of Wilkes-Barre, graduated from King's College, and earned his master's and Ph.D. degrees in social psychology from the University of Windsor, Canada. He taught in the European Division of the University of Maryland University College in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Dr. Lesko joined the faculty of Marymount University in 1981 as the chair of the psychology department and was appointed associate dean for the School of Education and Human Services in 1989. He was later named dean of the school. He returned to the full-time faculty in 2012.

He leaves his wife, Marlaine, and their two children, Brennan and Angelica. Also surviving are his son, Matthew, from a previous marriage; his sister, Anita, Pensacola, Fla.; his father, Andrew, also from Pensacola, Fla.; and his aunt, Anna Kalanicak, Wilkes-Barre.

He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Falls Church, Va.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Feb. 10 in St. James Catholic Church, 905 Park Ave., Falls Church, Va. There will be a private burial at a later date.
