Wilfield Frank Silsby Jr., 69, of Pringle passed away June 26, 2014 at the Celtic Hospice, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
He was born on Sept. 12, 1944 in Nathalei, Va., and lived in Pringle for the last 53 years.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Agnes Rood Silsby; his son Frank, and his grandson, Daniel. Also are surviving are his sisters, Joann Silsby Clark, Huddleston, Va.; Donna Silsby Williams, Wilkes-Barre; and his brother, Charles Silsby, Dallas; six nephews and a niece.
He served in the United States Coast Guard
from 1962 to 1966 on the U.S.C.G.C. Mackinac WAVP_371. For the past 30 years, he was employed by Wilkes-Barre Truck Center, where he regarded his co-workers as family. He was a member of Wyoming Avenue Christian Church and NEPA Coast Guard Veterans.
He was the son of the late of Winfield Frank and Ann Jones Silsby Sr.
Frank was a devoted and loving husband and father, and a thoughtful and caring brother and uncle. He was never too busy to help with a problem, tell a joke, share his considerable wisdom or just listen. He enjoyed experimenting with new ideas, collecting, fixing things, and spending time with family and friends. He will be deeply and sadly missed by all those he held dear.
The family would like to thank the caring and kind staff at Celtic Hospice of Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, who showed compassion and courtesy throughout Frank's stay there.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Edwards and Russin Funeral Home, 717 Main St., Edwardsville. Viewing for family and friends will be from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
