He earned his bachelor's degree from Temple University in 1966 and his master's degree from the University of Scranton in 1978. He is also survived by his sisters, Patricia Cervenak and husband, Ed, Larksville, and Kathy Bernoski and husband, William, Dallas; along with many nieces and nephews.

George dedicated his life to his Lord and savior Jesus Christ (No. 1 God), to his family and friends (No. 2 Family), and in working with student athletes both on and off the football field (No. 3 Football).

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1730 Fowler Ave., Berwick, with the Rev. Francis J. Tamburro, his pastor, officiating.

Dear Jackie and Family,
These words come late but are heart felt. I was a 13 year old boy down the street taken in by your family to play football. "Baker, Brown come on we're going to run some patterns in the back yard". Big Al he called me. The only thing big on me were my feet. He inspired Gary and me to love the game and taught us how to play. At 63 years old I still reflect on those days on Mountainview Drive . I would like to think we were his first recruits (lol). A part of Coach Curry lives within me and my approach to life today. He inspired us to play to a higher level. I never did get to play for him. When I finally got to 10th grade you moved to Berwick. I was sad but still inspired, and my love for the game continues today. He was a great man who always saw the potential in everybody. I still have moments of reflection of those times 50 years ago. May he rest in peace.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Jackie and the family of George Curry. George was a man who lived his convictions every day of his life. God, Family and Football were the convictions he displayed in everything he did. We spent many hours with George and family many years ago at the Wildwood Football Clinic. George was a big influence on my coaching career and a great friend. He will be missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the family.

April 4, 2016

Our family (Rev. Keith Evans, Marilyn Evans, Keith Jr., Jeni, Keith III, Kaleb, and Meredith) enjoyed the many years that George Curry coached the Berwick Dawgs. Berwick lost a legend of PA High School Football, PA Public Education, helping students to gain access to scholarships for College/University education and sports, QB camps for students and my boys. Heaven has now gained an ethical, loyal, faithful, and upstanding man who is now cheering us on to "Finish Strong!" "Dawg Strong!" Our prayers are with the entire family and Coach Curry's wife which we have enjoyed sitting next to at almost every game "Coach" beautifully directed. We will never forget.

My deepest sympathy to the family, friends, team mates, and his players on the loss of George Curry. George was my coach for the Larksville HS JV team in 1962 & 63, the first team he coached. He was only a few years older than me, but he was more like a father figure. He inspired the discipline, hard work, belief in one's self, courage, and giving one's all that still sticks with me today. George is and was a unique individual. He will be deeply missed.
