David Morgan Obituary
He was born in Wilkes-Barre on Nov. 5, 1974, a son of Charles and Margaret (Peggy) Fuge Morgan. David was a graduate of GAR Memorial High School, Class of 1993, and was attending the University of Maryland while serving in Kuwait. He was employed as a corrections officer by the State Correctional Institute in Dallas, where he received the Medal of Valor from the State Corrections Department. He was earlier employed by Schiels Market in Wilkes-Barre.
Dave served two tours of duty in the Iraqi Freedom Theater, from Jan. 31, 2005 to Jan. 20, 2006, and from June 8, 2009 to Nov. 19, 2009. He was the recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Reserve Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon and the Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon.
Dave was named grand marshal of the 2013 St. Patrick's Day Parade in Wilkes-Barre, where he was awarded honorary status as a member of the Wilkes-Barre Police Department. He was a member of the Wilkes-Barre Township American Legion Post No. 815 and an avid sports fan of the Seattle Seahawks and the Boston Red Sox.
Dave was best known for his smile and sense of humor. He was a loving father, son, brother and best friend. We are deeply saddened about his moving on but are comforted knowing that he is at home with his Lord and Savior.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Ariana Morgan; sisters, Charlene Krebs and her husband, Mark, Wilkes-Barre; Lori Morgan and her husband, John Pegram, Santa Rosa, Calif.; Kristen Morgan, Wilkes-Barre; brother, Charles (C.J.) Morgan; niece, Megan Kriso; nephews, Marc Krebs, Daniel and David Devito and Conor Morgan.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Nicholas Church, 226 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. Rebecca Tanner, the Rev. Michael Kloton and Monsignor Joseph Rauscher will officiate. Interment will be in Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas.
Friends may call at St. Nicholas Church, 226 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Department of Veterans Medical Center, 1111 East End Blvd., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18711, the Drucker Brain Injury Center — Moss Rehabilitation, 60 Township Line Road, Elkins Park, PA 18027, or to the St. Nicholas-St. Mary's School Library Fund, 242 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
Funeral arrangements are by the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.

David was an awesome soldier and more importantly a great human being, I am deeply saddened to hear of Dave's passing. As his Platoon Leader I really enjoyed having him in the platoon, his smile was contagious and all of his fellow soldiers loved to be around him, my condolences to the family he will be greatly missed.

Morgan was a good man. He was always one wearing a smile and tough to anger. It was always a fun time when he would come down to the motor pool. Dave was a few years ahead of me in high school, but it always made my day to pass by him in the hallways or see him walk down my street on his way home. I had a little crush, I guess. I moved away after high school and haven't seen him since back then, but I've thought about him a lot in recent years. I was very sad to read the news of his passing, but I'm sure he is at peace now. My sincere condolences to his family. Please know that Dave touched many lives and was a true hero.

wow, Morgan was my go to guy for laughter and insight when I was deployed with him in 2005, we spent many nights Sitting in my room talking and having a good laugh. I don't know what to say. I only attended GAR for two years and didn't make many friends while there. I was a shy kid, but Dave befriended me. He was so funny and so kind to me. We played football together for a couple years. It was such a reassuring feeling to know I had number 87 on defense with me. When I screwed up, he never yelled at me or made me feel bad. He'd just say we'll get them on the next play or something supportive.
I thought about him a lot over the years. Since he was one of my few friends at GAR, I always connected my time in Wilkes Barre with Dave.
Now that he's gone, all I can say is he was the nicest person I've ever known. That's the thing: he probably wouldn't remember me at all, yet I've never forgotten about him.
