Ada Mae Davis of Wilkes-Barre, and formerly of Norfolk, Va., passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at St. Luke's Villa, Wilkes-Barre.

Born July 1, 1946, in Mountain Top, she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret Cadwalder McKenney.

Ada attended Chester area schools. She was employed as a plumber's assistant by W.D. Sam's and Son Plumbing, Norfolk, Va., for many years, and as a nurse's aide by Lake Taylor Hospital.

She was a member of Willow Wood Presbyterian Church, Norfolk, and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8800, Canton Lake, Texas.

Ada was a loving and caring wife, mother, MomMom, GG Mom, and sister. She never cried or complained and told her family to "Just keep swimming."

She will be sadly missed by her husband of 22 years, Richard Davis; sons, Thomas William Phelps, Norfolk, Va.; and Bobby Joe Phelps, Wilkes-Barre; daughters, Rose Ada Morris and her husband, David, Hondo, Texas; Nora Jane Phelps, Norfolk, Va.; Elisa Ann Baker, Wilkes-Barre; Margaret Angelina Phelps, Wilkes-Barre; Shannon Michele Davis, Norfolk, Va.; and Crystal Lynn Davis, Wilkes-Barre; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, William McKenney, Virginia; Theodore McKenney, White Haven; and Edward McKenney, Chester; sister, Kathryn Spak, Wilkes-Barre; half-brothers and sisters, Margaret Carrey, Phyllis Howe, Mellvin McKenney, Angel Piland, Jim McKenney, Mary Hertzler and Joe McKenney.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre. Private interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk, Va.
