Ann C. Ritchey, 97, formerly of Barney Street, Wilkes-Barre, and a resident of Hampton House, Hanover Township, for the past several years, passed away Saturday morning, April 27, 2013.

Ann was born in Connellsville on Nov. 10, 1915. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Amelia Swankler.

Ann had practical nurse training and was employed as a seamstress by the local garment industry for many years.

Ann was preceded in death by sisters, Matilda Torbik, Virginia Niemenski and Freda McDermott; her beloved best friend and lifelong companion, Henry Kurello, on April 23, 2013.

Surviving are a daughter, Penny A. Davis; grandchildren, Robert, Drew and Jeffery Davis; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter, Areyanna; and also numerous nieces and nephews of the Torbik and the Niemenski families.

Funeral services for Ann will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley. A Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church, Barney and Division streets, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be held at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the St. Robert Bellarmine Parish building fund.
