Ann Marie Chmelewski Griffith, 72, passed away, unexpectedly but peacefully in her sleep, the morning of Sunday, April 8, 2018, during care and treatment in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

She was born Dec. 20, 1945, as the first child of Walter "Brad" and Sophie Ann Mazur Chmelewski. She grew up in Plymouth, graduated from Plymouth High School in 1963 and undertook college education at Wilkes College.

She married the late Wade Griffith, and became successful and accomplished as a valuable administrative assistant to Attorney Richard Goldberg and colleagues in their legal practice in the Wyoming Valley for many years. She then ventured into becoming a main assistant to the federal judiciaries at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilkes-Barre for more than 25 years.

Despite an early diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis in her 40s, Ann brought the pride and joy of her life into this world, her daughter, Leeanne, in 1986. She continued to work and raise Leeanne, with the help of Leeanne's father, Wayne, until her retirement in 2005. She continued to support and watch her daughter become salutatorian in her high school class, complete undergraduate and medical school training at Drexel University, and now in her present position as a resident physician in anesthesiology at the Stanford University School of Medicine in California.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Sophie, and great-nephew, Anthony Santos, and is survived by her loving daughter, Leeanne and her husband, Kristopher Park, who presently reside in Los Altos, Calif. Also, she is survived by her loving sister, Diane and husband, Al Gluc, nephew, Mitchell, and niece and great-niece, Kara and Gabriella Santos, all in Saugerties, N.Y. She is also survived by her baby brother, Walt and his wife, Beth, and nephews, Justin and Matthew, Raleigh, N.C.

Her family greatly recognizes and appreciates the love and assistance of her dear cousin, Beverly Brunozzi, as well as the many special friends and neighbors, including the Wallaces and Kelleys, who have helped her over these past years.

A celebratory gathering in remembrance of her life will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth. Family and friends are invited to call from 6 p.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the local chapter, or at, or to the SPCA at
