Barbara J. Hetro, 77, of West Wyoming entered into eternal peace with Our Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 20, 2013, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital after suffering a stroke.

Born May 14, 1936, in the Bronx, N.Y., Barbara was the daughter of the late John and Anna Wasser. She was a graduate of Jenkins Township High School, where she was the valedictorian of the senior class and received a scholarship to Misericordia University.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed as the office manager by Lispi Chevrolet, formerly of Pittston Township, for many years.

Barbara had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. Family was everything to her and she looked forward to birthday and holiday celebrations, as well as spending time up "The cabinet" with all of her family. Barbara loved to knit, crochet and sew, and spent numerous hours making gifts for others. She will be "Forever in Our Hearts."

She was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Levi Evarts.

She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her husband, George J., with whom she celebrated 36 loving years of marriage; her five daughters, Lynda Savinski, West Wyoming; Susan Savinski, Pittston; Joanne Savinski, Kingston; Michele Reap and her husbandm Michael, West Wyoming; and Lisa Yerka and her husband, Tony, Throop; grandchildren, Christopher, Jason, Eric, Erika, Lamar, Sharae, Zachary and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Christyana, Amani and Xander; brother, Jackie Wasser, New Port Richey, Fla.; sister, Jeanette Knowles, Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, Robert Wasser, Alabama; many nieces and nephews; and her feline children, Lilly and Vampy, whom she adored.

Private funeral services will be at the convenience of the family from Metcalfe-Shaver-Kopcza Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. There will be no calling hours.
