Barry E. Burge, 65, of Alberdeen Road, Mountain Top, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, in the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late DeWitt and Gertrude Horlacher Burge McLaughlin and was a graduate of Crestwood High School.
He was a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force, and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.
Barry was employed as a union steelworker for U.S. Steel and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his daughter, Brandi Burge, Arkansas Pass, Texas; son, Kevin Burge; brothers, Richard (Patti) Burge, Jacksonville, Fla.; Harvey Burge, Littleton, Colo.; Thomas (Michele) Burge, Lock Haven; and Luther (Deb) McLaughlin, Quakertown; sisters, Debra (Edward) Glover, Hatboro; and Diana (David) Aspinwall, Fairless Hills; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lehman Family Funeral Service Inc., 689 Hazle Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a celebration of life service at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Sarah Soars of Centenary Methodist Church, Ashley, officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
