Benjamin F. (Benny) Baiamonte, 79, a life resident of Ashley, died Monday afternoon, Feb. 18, 2013, at home.

Born in Ashley on March 20, 1933, he was the son of the late Anthony and Carmella LaCorte Baiamonte and was a graduate of Ashley High School.
He owned and operated an Ashley landmark, Benny's Restaurant on North Main Street, for 49 years until retirement and was a life member of the Ashley Lions Club.
Mr. Baiamonte was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; brother, Andy Baiamonte; and sisters, Jennie Baiamonte and Florence Rizzitello.
He is survived by sons, Benjamin and his wife, Kelly, Shavertown; Mark and his wife, Dawn, Ashley; and Matthew, Ashley; grandchildren, Chris, Nick, Gina Marie, Giovanni, Gabrielle and Melissa Baiamonte; and sisters, Josephine Hart, Ashley; Frances Mergo, Ashley; and Angeline Schutz, Ashley.
The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday from Lehman Family Funeral Service Inc., 689 Hazle Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Carol Coleman officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
