Bernadine Macijczak Obituary
Born May 12 1931, she was the daughter of the late Teofil and Antoinette Uzdowska Skonieczki. Bernadine attended Nanticoke schools and was an inspector for RCA Mountain Top. Bernadine was the past president of the Newport Twp. Senior Citizens, the Chaplin of the Nanticoke American Legion Women's Auxiliary. She volunteered for 27 years at Guardian Elder Care, where Bernie was the famous bingo caller. She also belonged to the Nanticoke Senior Citizens at the Rose Tucker Center. Bernadine was a member of St. Faustina Parish and asks in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Faustina or a charity of your choice.
Bernadine was predeceased by her first husband, John I. Zyla; her second husband, Samson Macijczak; sister, Stella Pogwist; brothers, Walter Skonieczki, Chester Skonieczki and Stanley Skonieczki.
Bernadine is survived by her children John I. Zyla Jr. and wife, Linda; daughter, Sharon Warren and husband, Dave; grandchildren, Jessica, Stacy Moss, Christy Emmelett, Jennifer, Danielle Peck and David; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Leah, Jase and Jaylyn.
The family would like to thank the Guardian staff for their great care and kindness to Bernie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Faustina Parish Main Site, Hanover Street, Nanticoke. Friends may call Monday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Stanley S. Stegura Funeral Home Inc., 614 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke. Bernadine will be laid to rest in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Nanticoke.
