Dr. Byron E. Myers, 83, of Canandaigua, N.Y., passed away Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center in Canandaigua, N.Y.

Born in 1931, Dr. Myers retired as dean of academic services from Luzerne County Community College. He was the past commodore of the Harveys Lake Yacht Club and was a longtime active member of the Dallas Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean Duncan Myers; two daughters, Marjorie (Mark) Drasnin and Dr. Leslie (Dr. Thomas Wong) Myers; four grandchildren, Evan, Andrew, Meredith and Lilia; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by six brothers.
There will be no calling hours. His memorial service will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at the First United Methodist Church, 100 N. Main St., Canandaigua, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 100 N. Main St., Canandaigua, NY 14424, or to the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, Recreation Therapy Department, 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua, NY 14424.
