Caroline Viola Ditullo Matenus, 85, formerly of Swoyersville, and who resided in Wyoming, peacefully entered eternity at ManorCare Nursing Home, Laureldale, on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, on what would have been her 58th wedding anniversary.

She was born March 4, 1928 in West Pittston, the daughter of the late Lena Corridoni Bosworth and the late Peter Ditullo.

Carol was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 37 years, Raymond J. Matenus, who died May 28, 1992. She was also preceded by her loving friend, Charles (Carl) Artim, who died Jan. 15, 2011.

She was a graduate of West Pittston High School, Class of 1946. She worked in the garment manufacturing industry and a member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union. She retired in 1985.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville, and of the Holy Name Society.

Surviving are her daughter, Barbara, wife of John Bieber, Fleetwood; her son Paul, Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; two granddaughters, Rachel and Lauren Bieber, Fleetwood; her sister, Victoria, wife of Gordon Remington, Niceville, Fla.; brother, George Ditullo, husband of Rose, Trenton, N.J.; two nieces and three nephews; and many devoted friends and relatives.

A heartfelt thanks for the kind and loving care she received from the staff at ManorCare, where she had been a resident since June 2008.

Visitation at Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Kutztown Rord, Muhlenberg Township, will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. officiated by the Rev. Timothy Valentino. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Swoyersville, at 11 a.m. Monday. Interment will be in Italian Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming.
