Carolyn Delores Gigliotti Leffler, 89, a resident of Jim Thorpe, entered into eternal life peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, in the care of Weatherwood Skilled Nursing Facility in Weatherly.

Born Dec. 1, 1928, in New Columbus (Nesquehoning), she was a daughter of the late Vincenzo Gigliotti and Carolina Painebiaco Gigliotti.

She graduated from Nesquehoning High School in May 1946.

She joined Bright's Department Store, where she became the manager/buyer of the baby department. In that role, she traveled frequently to Manhattan by train to purchase inventory.

From the age of 8 she lived with her sister, Rose, and her husband, Innocenzo "John" Panebianco, and her nieces, Sarah, Anne and Rosemary "Sister Jude," until her marriage in 1953 to Richard "Dick" Leffler.

She lived in Lehighton until 1961, Hamilton Square, N.J., until 1977, with her final years spent in Jim Thorpe on Center Street.

She was a homemaker for most of her life.

She worked at Sayen Middle School briefly as a teacher's assistant.

Carolyn was an excellent wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Herbert Leffler. At the time of his passing, they shared 58 years of marriage.

Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Rose Marie "Rose" Biank and Carmella Borelli Miller, as well as brothers, Frank, Vincent "James," Carmel, Frederick, Peter and Samuel.

Mrs. Leffler was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church of Jim Thorpe.

Left to mourn her death are three sons, Mark Richard, Richard David and John Steven; daughter-in-law, Susan Ulshafer Leffler; grandchildren, Jennifer, Gina, Kathryn and Carolyn; and great-grandchildren, Brooke, Hailey, Allie, Ella, Curtis and James.

She had many nieces, nephews, dear neighbors and friends.

Funeral services for Carolyn will be conducted Friday at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 526 North St., Jim Thorpe, with the Rev. Francis J. Baransky officiating. A memorial visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon in the church, with a Memorial Mass at noon.

Interment with Rite of Committal will follow in Lehighton Cemetery, Fourth and Alum streets, Lehighton
