Catherine Theresa Zardeski, originally of Hancock Street, Heights section of Wilkes-Barre, and formerly of Dan Flood Towers, Kingston, passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at Little Flower Manor Nursing Center, Wilkes-Barre.

Born Dec. 23, 1918, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Feliska Ropelewski Krysicki.
Catherine attended GAR High School, Wilkes-Barre.
She was employed as a retail clerk by Acme Markets for 17 years. She also worked as a matron at the Luzerne County Juvenile Detention Center for more than 20 years, retiring in 1981.
Catherine was a member of St. Ignatius Church, Kingston.
She was an accomplished needlepointer, enjoyed cooking and gardening, and was known for her kindness.
Catherine was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Zardeski; son, James Lauer; sister, Helen Krysicki; and brother, Joseph Krysicki.
Surviving are her daughter, Rosemary Krispin, Shavertown; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Lauer, Fowlerville, Mich.; grandchildren, James Lauer and Heather Lauer Ross, Fowlerville, Mich.; Elizabeth Bucholtz, Shavertown; and Angela Ward, Forty Fort; and great-grandchildren, Julia, Andrew, and Giada.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday from Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church, South Maple Avenue, Kingston. Interment will be in St. Mary's Maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their kind and compassionate care and the staff at Little Flower Manor for the wonderful care she received while she was a guest there.
