Charles Eget Sr., 64, of Nanticoke, an angel on earth, passed away Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, in Penn State Hershey Medical Center after suffering injuries in an assault last month.

Charlie was born in Wilkes-Barre on July 30, 1953, the son of the late Edward Charles and Irene Wolfe Eget. He was raised in Larksville and West Nanticoke, and graduated from Harter High School, West Nanticoke.

For most of his life he was employed in the warehouse industry, first by Alta Shoes in Hanover Twp., then Carter Rubber in Wilkes-Barre and finally Penquin Group USA, until his retirement two years ago.

Charlie was never idle; he loved playing poker with his friends at Mohegan Sun Pocono, fishing, listening to country music and traveling to his sisters' house in Myrtle Beach. His favorite times were spent with one of his five grandchildren upon his knee. He hated to cook, but loved to eat, and enjoyed taking his grandchildren to local church picnics for potato pancakes and other ethnic food.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Eget; his daughter, Tammy Turner and husband, John, Nanticoke; his son, Charles "CJ" Jr., Charlotte, N.C.; his daughter, Jennifer and fiancé, James Leonard, Nanticoke; and his daughter, Sara and fiancé, Daniel Blake Jr., Wilkes-Barre. Five treasured grandchildren will also miss him terribly: Johnny and Ryan Turner, Zachary Leonard and Abby and Daniel Blake III. He is also survived by his siblings, Ron Eget and wife, Madeline, Hamilton, N.J.; Irene Glock, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Kathleen Sitkowski, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Mel Graboske and wife, Jan, Nanticoke; Carol Maculloch, Hunlock Creek; Charles Graboske and wife, Annette, Linda Atherton and husband, Jim, and Karen Spencer, West Nanticoke; and Dr. Donna Eget and partner, Carolyn Beers, Clarks Summit. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Corrine Eget, Vineland, N.J.; and Naomi Eget, Honolulu, Hawaii.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward and Gerald, and his brothers-in-law, Dan Sitkowski, Charles Glock, Bob Maculloch and Mark Spencer.

There are many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends who will also miss his smiling face, kind words and the helping hand he was always ready to lend.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre.

Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Twp.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the family.
