Charles J. Mulligan Sr. of Montrose passed away suddenly Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at the age of 78.

Born Sept. 5, 1935, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Charles John Mulligan and Ellen Severns Mulligan.

Charlie served in the Army and was stationed in Korea.

He was a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, did his graduate work at Temple University and was the founder and CEO of Mulligan Printing Corp.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne, of 53 years; and five children, Kimberly Davenport, Ellen Mulligan (Cynthia), David Mulligan (Victoria), Charles Mulligan (Rena) and Frank Mulligan (Mary). He has seven surviving grandchildren, Elizabeth Berg (Dakota), Emily Davenport, Thomas Davenport, Jacob Davenport, Charles Mulligan, David Ambrose Mulligan and Joy Mulligan, and one great-grandchild, Eli Berg. Charlie is also survived by his sister, Mildred Mousseau, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two grandchildren, Patrick Davenport and Bridgette Mulligan.

Charlie lived with playful curiosity, unbending integrity, endless generosity, and was a tremendous success in every way possible. His family is deeply saddened to lose an amazing husband, father and friend and would give anything to hear his contagious laugh just one more time.

The celebration of Charlie's life will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Springville Baptist Church, Route 29, Springville. Interment will be in Montrose Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, 232 S. Main St., Montrose.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Montrose United Fire Company, the Susquehanna County Free Library and Historical Society or Endless Mountains Health Systems.
