Charles "Elmer" Race, 87, of Nuangola, entered into eternal rest Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at Riverside Rehabilitation Center, Taylor.

Born in Tunkhannock, he was a son of the late Charles A. and Ida Cook Race.

Charles was a member of Nebo Baptist Church, Nanticoke.

He was a self-employed contractor for more than 50 years and he devoted his life to his craft.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his son, Ralph, in 2017, and his brothers, Samuel and Melvin Race.

Charles is survived by his wife. the former Margaret Stryker; his children, Dennis, Charles and Diane; his grandchildren, Mike, Justin, Debbie, Andrew and Leslie; his six great-grandchildren; his brothers; and his nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from McCune Funeral Home, 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top. Interment will be in Stairville Cemetery, Wapwallopen, at the convenience of the family.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
