Clare Stella, 86, of Pittston Twp., passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, after a short stay at Wesley Village in Jenkins Twp.

Born in Pittston on March 23, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Minnie Gentile and Frank DeGregoria. She graduated from Pittston High School in 1948 and married the love of her life, the late Joseph Stella, in 1951, and they were happily married for 65 years until his death.

She worked at the Pittston Area School District as a cafeteria aide and also a teacher's aide. Clare also helped her husband run the family business, Joey the Dairy King, for many years.

She was a devout Catholic and enjoyed praying the Rosary. Her family always came first and always enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook, baker and homemaker.

She was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Pittston, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph.

She is survived by her sister, Arlene Clifford, Avoca; daughters, Barbara and husband, Alfonso Zangardi, Pittston Twp.; Lorraine and husband, Jerriel Duke, Duryea; and Sylvia and husband, Leo Mariani, Drums; son, Dr. Joseph Stella and wife, Lisa, Jenkins Twp.; grandchildren, Dr. Alfonso and wife, Dr. Jennifer Zangardi, Maria Zangardi, Gennaro Zangardi and fiancée, Erykah Aponte, and Alyssa, Amanda and Joseph Stella; and great-grandchildren, Dominick, Rita, Lorenzo and Luciana Zangardi. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gerald Gibbons and his staff, all of her caretakers throughout the last two years, all of the nurses, especially Randi, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, and all of the staff and nurses at Wesley Village for the wonderful care they provided.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart and to the Geisinger Northeast General Surgery Residency, which is in honor of Joseph and Clare Stella.

Funeral services are in the care of Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 700 S. Township Blvd., Pittston Twp.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Those who plan on attending should be at the funeral home no later than 8:30 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William St., Pittston.

Interment services will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Caverton Road, Wyoming.
