Daniel Dennis of Newport News, Va., went to be with his Lord on Sunday, June 23, 2013.

Mr. Dennis was a graduate from Coughlin High School and attended Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre. After 22 years, he retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief petty officer and went on to work with the Federal Aviation Administration, retiring after 20 years.
"Dan" as he was known to family and friends, attended the Warwick River Mennonite Church for the last 25 years during which time he was involved with their ministry at the former Riverside Regional Convalescent Center. He also volunteered at the Fort Eustis MacDonald Army Hospital Pharmacy and DUCO (Denbigh United Christian Outreach).
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Janice Kingston Dennis; daughter, Dawn Dennis, RN, LCDR USN, retired; grandson, Daniel J. M. Dennis, Bluffton, S.C.; brother, Michael Dennis (Louise), Wilkes-Barre; and many nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Michael Dennis Sr.; mother, Anna Smarsh Dennis; and brother, Andrew Dennis, Wilkes-Barre; and brother, John Dennis (Betty), Bethesda, M.D.
Dan chose to donate his body to the Body Farm at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. July 20 in Warwick River Mennonite Church, 250 Lucas Creek Road, Newport News, Va.
