Daniel R. Green Sr., 73, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Thursday morning, Oct. 24, 2013, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Daniel and Margaret Knorr Green.
Danny attended St. Nicholas School, Wilkes-Barre. and was employed as a roofer by Consolidated Cigar, Pittston, as a maintenance man by Bishop Hoban High School, and as a security guard by Pocono Downs, Plains Township.
He was a member of the Donegal Society of Wilkes-Barre, The P.A.V. and the Hudson Servicemen's Club, both of Hudson, The L.A.N.I. VFW, Irishtown, V.J.'s Hideaway's Dart and Pool League, Plains Township, was an active member in Miners Mills Little League baseball, a former member of the Plains Lion Club, and was active at the Blessed Sacrament Church and Bishop Hoban High School bazaars.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Margaret Rose (Cookie) Coffay, on April 12, 1999; son, Daniel R. Green Jr., on Sept. 27, 2013; sister, Margaret Bolton; and brother, Thomas Green.
Surviving are his daughters, Catherine (Kelly Green) Belch and her husband, 1st Lt. Daniel C. Belch, USAF, retired; Noreen Green and her husband, Bill Reiser, all of Wilkes-Barre; Theresa Young and her husband, Brian, and Maureen Dessoye, all of Plains Township; son, William Berkowitz Sr., Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, William, Edward and Jonathan Berkowitz, Rebecca Belch, Clint Thompson Jr., Patrick, Thomas, Dylan, Danielle and Daniel Green III, and Tiffany Young; brother, Robert Knorr and his wife, Betty, Kingston; sister, Mary Rinehimer and her husband, Lonnie, Wapwallopen; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Benedict's Parish, St. Dominic's Church, 155 Austin Ave., Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will be held in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown, at the convenience of the family.
