David C. Derhammer, 55, of Monroe Township passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Meshoppen, he was the son of the late William and Marian (Baines) Derhammer. He was a graduate of Tunkhannock High School, Class of 1976. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. David enjoyed tractor shows, was an avid hunter and outdoor sportsman, and a member of the Kunkle Fire Department.
Surviving are brothers, Walter Derhammer and his wife, Charlotte, Monroe Township; William Derhammer and his wife, Millie, Sweet Valley; Robert Derhammer and his wife, Margie, Sweet Valley; Richard Derhammer and his wife, Kathi, Monroe Township; sisters, Phyllis Barbose, Holiday, Fla.; Dorothy Glasscock and her husband, Edward, Columbus, Miss.; Beverly Hoffman and her husband, Ronald, Watsontown; Marilyn Traver and her husband, Thomas, Monroe Township; several nieces and nephews and his faithful companion, his dog, Maggie.
Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday at the Nulton-Kopcza Funeral Home, state Route 309 (Beaumont) Monroe Township.
Interment will be in the Beaumont Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
