Delbert P. (Dibbs) Evans, 71, of Orchard Street, Glen Lyon, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Delbert was born in Nanticoke on Jan. 9, 1941. He was the son of the late Willard and Mabel Sager Evans.

Dibbs was a graduate of Northwest High School, Class of 1959.

He was employed as a parts manager by Ertley Motorworld for 25 years and Malishchak Bros. Construction.

Dibbs was an avid golfer and enjoyed the outdoors.

He was a life member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Nanticoke, and was past president of the Italian American Sporting Club, Glen Lyon.

Surviving is his wife, the former Frances Meshinski. They celebrated 50 years of marriage on Oct. 6, 2012. Also surviving are sons, Paul Evans and his wife, Mary, Maryland; and Jeff Evans and his wife, Tina, Glen Lyon; and brothers, Ronald and his wife, Elaine, Lake Pinecrest; and Kenneth Evans, Hunlock Creek. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Delbert will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., Glen Lyon. The Rev. Debra North will officiate. Interment will be held in St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Glen Lyon. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
