Doloros Marie Czeck, R.N., 91, of Nanticoke, passed away unexpectedly in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital on Tuesday, April 10, 2018.

She had been a resident of Mercy Center, Dallas, since November 2017.

She was born Feb. 6, 1927, in Wanamie, and was the daughter of the late William and Stephania Gizara Czeck.

Doloros was a graduate of Newport Twp. High School and continued her education at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing, receiving her nursing degree in 1948.

Doloros proudly worked as a registered nurse at Nanticoke State Hospital, where she was supervisor of the emergency room, as well as responsible for implementing and overseeing many clinics and blood drives until her retirement in 1983.

Doloros was dedicated and devoted to her family. She always encouraged and supported their accomplishments, education and happiness. She was blessed with many dear friends who she enjoyed trips to the casino, a game of cards, dinner or a ride in the country. She also enjoyed watching sports, especially Penn State football. She was curious about current events and modern life. Doloros travelled with family and friends across the country and especially enjoyed trips to New York City and Europe, where she participated in the Papal audience in Rome and cruised to many ports. She always encouraged her family to go and explore.

Doloros was a vibrant, kind and caring person. She also enjoyed each others company and fun times, especially playing pinochle.

She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Glen Lyon, where she enjoyed being a member of the choir. Doloros was a previous member of St. Michael's Church, Glen Lyon, and Holy Trinity Church, Nanticoke (St. Faustina Parish). She was very dedicated and active in her church community.

Doloros was preceded in death by her beloved siblings, Lottie Gill, Celia Stewart, Helen Czeck and Stanley, Frank and Edward Czeck.

Presently surviving are her brother, Joseph, Nanticoke; sister, Josephine Czeck Malone, Paradise, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C., 51 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Spirit Parish Church, Glen Lyon.

Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Glen Lyon.

Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at calling hours that will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
