Dora M. Dewey, 84, formerly of the Hanover Green section of Hanover Twp., entered eternal life Friday, June 8, 2018, at Little Flower Manor, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Hanover Green, on Nov. 9, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Stella Miara Grendzinski.

Dora was a graduate of Hanover Memorial High School and attended nursing school.

She worked for Acme Markets in New Jersey, Alta Products, Penn Footwear, My Brothers Place and the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital until her retirement in 2005.

Dora had a passion for reading, sewing and gardening. She treasured life, her family and the people she met and worked with. She had a passion for people and children, whether her own children or any child fortunate enough to cross her path. She was born to be a mother and relished all aspects of motherhood.

Dora was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George W. Dewey; her son, Bruce Dewey; her sisters, Helen Fela, Celia Sloto, Sophia Puzio and Marcella Hementz; and her brothers, John, Phillip, Joseph and Frank Grendzinski.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Thompson and her husband, Jack, and Stella Stempien and her husband, Steve; sons, George Dewey and Patrick Dewey and his wife, Melissa; grandchildren, George and Kevin Dewey, Jeremy Thompson and his wife, Alison, Melissa Thompson, Derrick Thompson and Noah and Evan Dewey; great-grandchildren, Makenna and Shea Thompson and Michael Thompson; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday from George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, 420 Main Road, Hanover Twp.

Interment will follow in St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Glen Lyon.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank and extend gratitude to Dr. Janusz Wolanin and his nurse, Cathy; all the staff and nurses at the Little Flower Manor; Lisa, Linda, Kristin, Kelsey, Tammy, Winter and Liz. Thank you for the care, compassion and kindness you had for our beloved mother.
