Doris Bedford, 90, of Franklin Township passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

She was born in Exeter Township, daughter of the late John and Gertrude Searfos Perry. After graduating from West Pittston High School, Class of 1939, she entered the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing and became a registered nurse.

She worked for many years as an RN and retired from the Valley Crest Nursing Home.

Doris was a member of the Orange United Methodist Church and actively participated in all of their groups. She was also a member of the Nesbitt Hospital Auxilliary (Rural Branch).

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis O. Bedford; grandson, John Dixon; and great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Polacheck.

Surviving are her daughters, Sharon Dixon and her husband, Alvin, Tunkhannock; Kristie Lindbuchler and her husband, Fred, Orange; and Kimberly Wodaski and her husband, Neil, Mount Airy, Md.; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Metcalfe-Shaver-Kopcza Funeral Home, 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with the Rev. Leslie Halchak of Orange United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Carverton.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
