Dorothy R. Murray, 96, of Plains Twp., passed away Wednesday evening, Jan. 10, 2018, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp., with her family at her side.

Born in Plains Twp., Dorothy was the daughter of the late John and Helen Cunningham Burns. She was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School and Wilkes-Barre Business College.

Dorothy was employed by Keogh Coal Co. as a bookkeeper and last by Leslie Fay Dress Factory.

A devout Catholic, Dorothy was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains Twp., attending Mass daily.

Dorothy's family was her passion. The grandchildren referred to her as Triple H, "Healthy, Happy and Holy."

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald E. Murray, on Jan. 7, 1996; son, John Murray, on July 18, 2013; brothers, Joseph, John, Al and Sylvester Burns; sisters, Florence Doran, Mary Monaghan, Mary Carrigg, June Callahan, Jule Tinsley, Helen Burns, Anne Burns and Margaret and Catherine Burns; and infant twin brothers.

Surviving are her sons, Gerald Murray and his wife, Suzanne, State College; and Joseph Murray and his wife, Tracy, Mountain Top; daughters, Helen Lindner and husband, Larry, Clarks Summit; Nancy Jones, Plains Twp.; and Dr. Marianne Murray Hall and her husband, Kevin, Portland, Maine; daughter-in-law, Dianne Murray, Dallas; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph Tinsley and his wife, Susan, Danville; and several nephews and nieces.

The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday from Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Twp., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains Twp., with the Rev. James Nash officiating.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
