Edward Jackson Higgins, 63, of Shavertown passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013, at home with his family by his side.

Mr. Higgins was born in Wilkes-Barre on Aug. 25, 1949, and was the son of the late Jonathan and Anna Sudosky Higgins.
Edward graduated from Lake-Lehman High School in 1968, where he was an outstanding wrestler, later to become a member of the Lake-Lehman Wrestling Club Hall of Fame. He was an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 163 member, where he served his apprenticeship and was employed as an electrician for 40 years, retiring last year due to illness. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved golfing with his brother Jim. He was also president of the Luzerne County Branch of ABATE Motorcycle Club. Ed was loving and enjoyed life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jonathan and James Higgins; and sister, Mina Higgins.
Edward is survived by daughter, Amy Chilcote and companion, C.J. Hartman, Shavertown; son, Edward M. Higgins and his wife, Cecelia, Kunkle; sisters, Donna Phillips and her husband, Roy, Kingston; and Violet Milbrodt and her husband, Emmett, Noxen; grandchildren, Jimmy Williams, Beaumont; Jonathan and Brooke Higgins, Kunkle; goddaughter, Amanda Cather, Vernon; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and lots of cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service Saturday.
Interment will be in the Higgins-Harrison Cemetery.
