Edwin Micca, 94, passed away peacefully at Bonham Nursing Center in Stillwater on Tuesday, May 8, 2018.

A veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, he unselfishly gave 37 years of service as U.S. Army soldier, and U.S. Navy sailor and seaman in the Military Sealift Command.

He was a member of St. Martha's Men's Association, the American Legion and served as an American Legion honor guard for many years.

Edwin is survived by four children, Alice Ann Micca, Dallas, Texas; Dorothy Micca Howanitz (Ken), Shickshinny; Michael Micca (Rebecca), Shickshinny; and Edward Micca (Gail) Allentown. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.

Edwin was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Matusheski Micca, and parents, Edwin Matthew Micca and Alice Colbert Micca.

He was born in Manhattan on April 28, 1924, raised in Woodside, Queens, married Helen Dorothy Matusheski in 1955 and was for married for 49 years until her death in 2004. While in the Navy, they moved between the east and west coasts until settling in rural Pennsylvania.

Edwin, the adventurer, enjoyed the simple things in life - traveling around the world (to include all 50 states), playing drums, driving in one of his many Jeeps, walks along the Atlantic City boardwalk and building models of ships - but his greatest love was family (followed by chocolate).

The family would like to especially thank Donna, his dedicated caregiver, and his hospice nurse, Brenda, as well as the staff at Bonham's for their gracious care.

A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Mayo Funeral Home Inc., 77 N. Main St., Shickshinny.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Spirit Parish/St. Martha's Church, Fairmount Springs. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Edwin's life.

Burial will be in St. Martha's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Martha's Men's Association, Holy Spirit Parish, 150 Main St., Mocanaqua, PA 18655.
