Eleanor "Ellie" Wasnick, 97, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019.

Born in Larkesville, she was the daughter of the late George and Sophia Stelmach. Eleanor was a graduate of Larksville High School.

She was a active member of Luzerne County Medical Society and a participant of the Little Theater in Wilkes-Barre. During World War II, she traveled to Fort Lewis in Washington state to marry her beloved Capt. William Wasnick MD. Ellie and Bill were happily married for 67 years, prior to his passing in November 2013.

Eleanor was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. The youngest of seven children, she later compassionately and selflessly cared for her older siblings.

In addition to her husband Bill, Eleanor was preceded in death by her six older siblings and three nephews. She is survived by her three children, Dr. Robert and his wife, Carla; Carol and her husband, Howard Domsky; and Diane and her husband, John D'Adamo; grandchildren, Dr. Robert Jr. and his wife, Kate; Michael; Lauren and Eric; great-grandsons, James and William; devoted family friend, Anna Jackson Hendershot; and dedicated caregiver, Tina.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Aloysius Church, Wilkes-Barre.

Interment is in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
