Eugene V. Palladino of Forty Fort passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on Feb. 7, 1928, he was a son of the late Dominick and Rose Fonzo Palladino. Gene was a graduate of GAR Memorial High School, Class of 1947, where he was a three-sport athlete.

He earned his bachelor's degree from King's College in 1956 and his masters in elementary and secondary supervision and administration from Scranton University. Gene started his career in the elementary schools of the Wilkes-Barre Area School District and later taught, coached and refereed at Meyers High School, retiring as assistant principal in 1992.

He was past president of the Wilkes-Barre Teachers Association and a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association. Gene served with the U.S. Naval Reserves and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, Kingston.

Gene was a loving and caring husband, father and granddad, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends that knew him. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys, Penn State and Philadelphia Phillies fan.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brothers, Patrick, Raymond Esq. and Larry Palladino; his sister, Lonnie Murray; and sister-in-law, Helen Palladino.

Left to cherish his memory, Gene is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lorraine Stanton Palladino; sons, Mark Palladino and his wife, Michele, Mountain Top; Kenneth Palladino, Allentown; Gregg Palladino, Forty Fort; daughters, Lisa Fischl and her husband, Rudy, Macungie; Andrea Palladino, Mullica Hill; sister-in-law, Susi, Waco, Texas; as well as seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements will be entrusted to Hugh B. Hughes and Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, Kingston. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center staff, nurses and aides for the kindness and compassionate care given to Gene in his time of need.
