Eva Malishchak, 83, of Shickshinny died Friday morning, March 1, 2013, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital where she had been a patient.

Born Jan. 9, 1930 in Hanover Township, she was a daughter of the late John and Eva (Sagen) Patrylak.
She was a graduate of Hanover Area High School. She worked for 10 years at the Shickshinny post office, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Mocanaqua Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and the Shickshinny Area Volunteer Ambulance. She was a member of Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church, Nanticoke.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Malishchak, on April 1, 1983; brothers, John, Jim, Andy, George, Michael, Joseph and Peter Patrylak; and sisters, Anna and Rose.
Surviving are sons, Peter and wife, Karen, Town Hill; Steven and wife, Karen, New Castle, Del.; Gerald and wife, Valerie, Wanamie; and Richard and wife, Joan, Shickshinny; nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Katelin, Brian, David, Jacob, Lucas, Gabrielle, Lisa and Amy; five great-grandchildren, Kaymen, James, David Jr., Mya and Tyce; and a brother, the Rev. Frank Patrylak.
Funeral services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Monday at Mayo Funeral Home Inc., 77 N. Main St., Shickshinny, followed by a Divine Liturgy Service at 11 a.m. in Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church, Nanticoke with her pastor, the Rev. Volodymyr Popyk officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Parastas service will be held at 7 p.m.
