Evelyn Love (Gorman) passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, in Kindred Hospital Wyoming Valley, where she had been a patient since November.

Born Nov. 4, 1923, in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Adville and Sarah (Burkey) Bailey. She attended West Pittston High School and was employed by Pope and Talbot Paper Co. in Ransom for 35 years as a machine operator, and after retirement by Sunshine Market in Wilkes-Barre as a part-time bagger.
She was a former member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Hughestown, and later was a member of the First Methodist Church, West Pittson.
She loved traveling to places such as Las Vegas, Disney World, Bermuda and Branson, Mo. She was an avid animal lover, and adopted many animals from shelters. She loved serenading friends by singing and playing her Hammond organ, and she was talented at knitting hats and vests for everyone. She was an excellent cook and was very hospitable when it came to feeding friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Gorman, in 1982, and husband, James Love, in 1995; and siblings, including Dorothy Hess, Mossup, Conn.; Harold Bailey, Quakertown; and Helen Stelzman, Easton.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Gorman, Harding, with whom she resided; several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Charles Manganiello and his staff, Pittston, along with the staff at Kindred Hospital Wyoming Valley, Golden Living Center, Plains Township, and Associated Family Home Health Nurses, Forty Fort, for their care during this difficult time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home, 451 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre.
At the family's request, all services will be private.
