Evelyn P. Farnell, 75, of Beaver Falls, PA, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at UPMC Altoona Hospital.

Born in Luzerne County on November 18, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Helen (Rudowski) Pishak.

Evelyn is survived by her brother Mark R. Pishak and his wife Sharon of State College, PA.

Evy was valedictorian of the 1960 graduating class of Newport Twp. High School. She graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1964 earning a B.S. degree with special emphasis in language studies. She was the quintessential wordsmith with writing skills second to none.

Evelyn had a long and distinguished career as an educator, teaching English, French and Spanish, primarily in school districts of the greater Philadelphia and Pittsburgh areas.

Evy possessed a keen sense of intellectual curiosity which helped to shape her interests in art, cinema, fine food, horticulture, literature and politics. In recent years, she developed an interest in early spring flowering bulbs, especially snowdrops, and considered the snowdrop "Jaquenetta" amongst her favorites.

She was an ardent sports fan with allegiance to the Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia Eagles, Penn State and Purdue. Most notably she enjoyed watching and cheering on the Purdue men's basketball team. Boiler Up!

We shall never forget Evy's influential presence in our lives, shared moments and the comfort of knowing she was always kind, caring and generous with her time.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff of the UPMC Altoona Critical Care Unit for their care, compassion, support and many kindnesses extended to Evelyn during her illness.
