Frances A. Sopata, 94, of Swoyersville passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014, at home.

Born March 9, 1920, in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Zelonis Lencoski.
In earlier years, Frances was employed for 14 years by Kearney's Barbecue in Edwardsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph G. Sopata; granddaughter, Karen Kluk; great-granddaughter, Mary Rose Miller; great-great-grandson, Xander Taylor; brothers, Alfred and Jerome; and sisters, Julia, Anna and Veronica.
Frances was a loving mother and grandmother. She welcomed everyone into her home with love and open arms. She was a woman of great faith and prayer. She will always be remembered by her family for many things, especially her beautiful blue eyes.
Surviving are her children, Carl Sopata, Pittsburg, Kan.; Frances Giadosh and her husband, Robert, Forty Fort; Eleanor Barber, Swoyersville; Rita Yuhas, Swoyersville; Ann Marie Golembeski and her husband, Tony, Pringle; Joseph Sopata and his wife, Judy, Kirkwood, N.Y.; and Michael Sopata and his wife, Ann Marie, Swoyersville; 29 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Albina Baron, Swoyersville; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Hughes Street, Swoyersville.
Interment will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Swoyersville.
