Mrs. Frances Mackiewicz, 72, of Terrytown Road, Wyalusing, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, in Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre.

Fran was born in Swoyersville on Aug. 30, 1940, a daughter of the late Joseph F. and Mary Orchak, Whrel. She attended Sacred Heart School, Luzerne, and graduated from West Side Central Catholic High School in Kingston, now Bishop O'Reilly High School.
Fran worked at several factories in the area and in Bristol. She later worked with her husband Joseph Mackiewicz, who was an independent claims adjuster at Harveys Lake. They worked together for 28 years until their retirement. After retiring, they moved to Wyalusing.
Fran and Joe enjoyed traveling and fishing. She loved ceramic painting and sewing.
Fran was a member of St. Basil's Church, Dushore, and a member of the Red Hat Turnpike Gals.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph, at home; son, Joseph A. Mackiewicz, Wyalusing; granddaughter, Chelsea Lynn Mackiewicz, Plymouth; grandson, Joseph Michael Mackiewicz, Wilkes-Barre and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Caroline Wrhel Petriga, Larksville.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Basil's Church, Dushore, with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Basil's Cemetery, Dushore.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing.
