Garry E. Kulawiak of Luzerne died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown.

Born Dec. 12, 1943, in Paterson, N.J., Garry was the son of the late Emil and Veronica Sawka Kulawiak.

Garry was a graduate of St. John's Cathedral High School, Paterson, N.J., and earned a bachelor of science degree in telecommunication engineering from William Paterson University, Wayne, N.J.

Garry was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Vietnam War, and was awarded The National Defense Service Medal. Prior to his retirement, Garry was employed by several telecommunication companies and, most recently, Nextira Communications, Marlton, N.J.

Garry enjoyed deep sea fishing off the "Jersey Shore" and was an avid fan of the New York Giants, and the Yankees.

He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Kim Lucey.

Surviving are his wife, the former Lorraine A. Giardina; children, Andrew Kulawiak (Patricia), Middletown, N.J.; Brian Kulawiak (Natalie), Hallandale Beach, Fla.; Robert Kulawiak (Sharon), Fredon, N.J.; and Jennifer Kimkowski (Keith), Glenwood, N.J.; 12 grandchildren; three nephews; one niece; step-daughter, Lori Caravella (Tom Benesky), Kingston; step-son, Joseph Caravella (Sonia), Randolph, N.J.; 10 step-grandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; and sister, Carol Weiss (Walter), North Haledon, N.J.

Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation with the family from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Hugh P. Boyle & Son Funeral Home Inc., 416 Wyoming Ave., Kingston.

A blessing service for Garry will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. by the Rev. Leo J. McKernan, pastor, St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, North Maple Avenue, Kingston.
