Gerald R. "Jerry" Kovaleski, of Harveys Lake and Anna Maria Island, Fla., passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Born in Kingston on March 21, 1940, he was the son of the late John Kovaleski and Elsie Dombroski Kovaleski.

Jerry was a graduate of Kingston High School and King's College. He was a member of the King's College Century Club and worked on the College Telethon for several years. Upon graduation, he was employed by Uarco Inc., before starting his own company in the area, Basic Business Forms. Jerry was also associated with his wife's business, Thrifty Beverage, in Hanover Twp., prior to her retirement.

Jerry served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Jerry was always supportive, with a smile and a joke to tell. He was there when you needed him for the family, as an uncle and as a good friend.

He was an avid fisherman and boater. He enjoyed traveling and loved his yearly fishing trips to Canada with his buddies. He often was affectionately called "The Captain." Jerry was always seen with his faithful dog, Buddy. He will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Jr.

Surviving are his wife, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage, the former Rosemarie Smulowitz; sister, JoAnne Demyun, Royersford; brother-in-law, Jack Smulowitz, Harveys Lake; nephew and nieces, John and Stacy Smulowitz, Shavertown; Marc and Judy Smulowitz, Harveys Lake; Steve Smulowitz, Lausanne, Switzerland; Janci Demyun, Atlanta; and Paul Demyun, Phoenixville; great nieces and nephews, Victoria and Alex Smulowitz and Lindsey and Eric Demyun.

In accordance with Jerry's wishes, a private funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, in Our Lady of Victory Church, Harveys Lake.
