James E. Heller, 63, of Hunlock Creek, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp.

He was born in Kingston on April 16, 1955 and was the son of the late Kenneth and Madlyn Bunosky Heller.

James graduated from Lake-Lehman High School in 1973. He was a member of the Laborers Union 130, Scranton. James and his family managed the former Mohawk Riding Academy for many years. He enjoyed riding horses, hunting and farming.

James is survived by his wife of 35 years, the former Judith Burns; daughters, Elizabeth Cummings and her husband, Frank, Sweet Valley; and Sarah Lanning and her husband, Adam, Hunlock Creek; sons, James and John, both of Sweet Valley; brother, Kenneth "Joe" Heller Jr., Sweet Valley; and sisters, Nancy Honeywell, Texas; Susan Lee, of Noxen; Lynn Jackson, Sweet Valley; and Gail Verbyla, Mooretown; grandchildren, Jameson and Mason Cummings.

A prayer service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday from Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with the Rev. Alex Roche of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church officiating.

Visitation will follow the service from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
