James R. Payne, 50, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Monday, March 10, 2014.

He was born in Wilkes-Barre on Sept. 14, 1963, a son of Connie Fox Skoronski of Wilkes-Barre and Richard Payne of Georgia.

Jim was a 1981 graduate of Coughlin High School and a graduate of Luzerne County Community College, where he received his degree in business administration.

Jim was employed as the manager of the Wilkes-Barre City Employees Federal Credit Union and he served as chairman of the Wilkes-Barre Municipal Golf Course. He was a member of the 2009 USSSA State Champion Baird Stone Softball Team and Mag's Pitch League.

Jim was an avid golfer, hunter and outdoorsman. He enjoyed his annual hunting trip to South Dakota.

Jim was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish, Wilkes-Barre.

In addition to his parents, Jim is survived by his wife of 20 years, Cathy Macko Payne; sisters, Janet Payne Wright and her husband, Frank, Edwardsville; Danielle Stoshak and her husband, Andy, West Wyoming; and Brenda Burkhardt, Dallas; father and mother-in-law, Richard and Carol Macko, Wilkes-Barre; sister-in-law, Amy Magda and her husband, Andy, Wilkes-Barre; brothers-in-law, Richard Macko and his wife, Kyra, Wilkes-Barre; and Jason Macko, Plymouth; nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Kenda.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Hope Parish, 40 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's memory to the Northeast Division, 90 S. Commerce Way, Suite 320, Bethlehem, PA 18017, or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 1525 Valley Center Parkway, Suite 180, Bethlehem, PA 18107.
