James W. Judge II, M.D., 89, formerly of Pittston, passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, in Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

He was born in Pittston to Henrietta Coleman and James Judge on May 19, 1924. His brother, Joseph, preceded him in death.
He was a 1941 graduate of St. John's High School, Pittston. He attended the University of Scranton. He graduated from Upsala College with degrees in mathematics and chemistry.
He received his M.D. degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, Class of 1951. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Medicine and the Geisinger Medical Center.
He was former chief and head of the Department of Ophthalmology in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a bombardier in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He was a fellow of the American Academy of Opthamology; the American Medical Association; Pennsylvania Medical Society; and the Luzerne County Medical Society.
He is survived by 11 children, James, Chester Springs; Michael, Dallas; Brian, Edwardsville; Sean, Kingston; Colleen Moore, California; Kathleen Fee, Massachusetts; Maureen Devine, Harveys Lake; Eileen Crossin, Trucksville; Marianne Piconne, Doylestown; Patricia Gorman, New Jersey; and Jennifer Fanning, New York. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. John the Evangelist Church, William Street, Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
