John C. Partington, "Poppy Jack," 82, formerly of Plymouth Twp., died peacefully Tuesday, June 5, 2018.

He was born Aug. 14, 1935, to the late Albert and Mary Carroll Partington. He graduated from Harter High School in 1953 and served in the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Prior to his retirement in 1998, he was employed by State Correctional Institution-Dallas. He was previously employed by Atwater Throwing Co. in Plymouth and Chocolate Popcorn Factory in Kingston.

Poppy Jack had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren at their cottage in Harveys Lake. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and playing cards at Moon Lake and Lake Jean with his longtime companion, Margaret Estock, and her children. He volunteered at the Plymouth Twp. bazaars and loved visiting the Bloomsburg Fair and Knoebels Amusement Resort. He also loved going on long car rides, especially to visit his lifelong friends, Harold and Shirley Mullen, in Sayre.

Poppy Jack will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Partington; his longtime companion, Margaret Estock; sisters, Joan Messimer and Beverly Williams; and his beloved aunt, Claire Carroll.

Surviving are his children, John Partington Jr. (Sandra), Nanticoke; Mary Ellen Klimchok, Hanover Twp.; Kay Clark (Brian), Plymouth; and Mike Estock, Plymouth Twp.; grandchildren, Keri and Kara Klimchok, Hanover Twp.; and Michael Partington, Nanticoke; sister, Judith Stepanski (Thomas), Hawley; brother, Albert Partington (Claudette), Plymouth Twp.; and many nieces and nephews.

The Partington family would like to thank the nurses and staff at The Gardens at East Mountain for the kindness and care shown to Poppy Jack, especially in his final weeks.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from Kielty-Moran Funeral Home Inc., 87 Washington Ave., Plymouth, with the Rev. Charles C. Warwick officiating.

Internment will follow in Sorber Cemetery, Reyburn.

Friends and family may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
