John Fialko of Exeter passed away peacefully at home Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018.

Born Dec. 20, 1929, in Exeter, he was the son of the late Andrew Fialko and Anna Cerep. He attended Exeter schools and worked for the Rex Shoe Company for 42 years. He was a member of the Emanon Golf Club and various bowling leagues.

He was preceded in death by his wife, June Brown Fialko, in 2008, and sisters, Mary Lapsansky, Anna Mae Shellheimer and Elizabeth Husovsky.

Surviving are his daughters, June Blitzer and husband, Michael, New York City, N.Y.; Deborah Madrack, Plymouth; and Jane Ashany and husband, Eran, New York City, N.Y.; sons, John, Hunlock Creek; James and wife, Mary, Gilbert, Ariz.; Daniel and wife, Anne, Millburn, N.J.; and Jeffrey and wife, Marla, Berwyn; sister, Helen Steck, Swoyersville; brothers, Andrew Fialko, Exeter; and Joseph Fialko, Tonawanda, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the Hospice of the Sacred Heart and family and friends for the support they provided.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Metcalfe-Shaver-Kopcza Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with the Rev. Laura Lewis officiating.

Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Slovak Cemetery, Schooley Ave., Exeter.

Friends and family may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
