Joseph C. Grula, 82, of Sugar Notch passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre.

He was born in Wilkes-Barre Township on July 13, 1930, a son of the late Andrew and Veronica Fedor Grula.
Joseph was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School, Class of 1949.
He was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.
Joseph was formerly employed as a transmission specialist by AAMCO Transmissions and by Red's Garage. He was also employed as a school bus driver by the Churnetski Bus Co. prior to his retirement.
He was a member of Holy Family Church, Sugar Notch, the Georgetown Friars Club and Wilkes-Barre Township American Legion Post 815.
Joseph was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Albert and Andrew Grula, and by his sisters, Anna Zaher and Catherine Zdancewicz.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Marie E. Barnas Grula; daughters, Louise Konopinski and her husband, Stanley, Sweet Valley; Joann Clark and her husband, Michael, Apex, N.C.; and Kathleen Yurkoski and her husband, Joseph Jr., Shickshinny; grandchild, Genevieve (Jenny) Konopinski; nieces and nephews.
Joseph's family would like to thank the staff at Riverstreet Manor for the compassionate care that they provided.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. Vincent Dang officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
Funeral arrangements are by Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre.
