Joseph Benjamin Jamiolkowski, 83, of Mountain Top passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 13, 2014.

Joseph was born in Wilkes-Barre to the late Benjamin and Mary Jamiolkowski.

Joseph joined the U.S. Air Force in 1948 and subsequently in 1950, while stationed in Detroit, he was fortunate to meet Diane while she was visiting from her home in Toronto, Canada. They married on May 1, 1954.

Joseph spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean conflict as a flight engineer and later working on the U.S. missile programs of Mace, Thor and Minuteman. After retiring from the Air Force as a master sergeant, Joseph worked in air conditioning and refrigeration, retiring from the Wilkes-Barre Vocational Technical School.

Over the years Joseph enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking with Diane, fishing, staying current with world events, and overall spending time with his family.

Joseph was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Knights of Columbus.

Joseph is survived by Diane, his forever loving wife of 59 years; daughters, Linda Brush and her husband, Carl, and Dana Harding and her husband, Tom,; son, Michael and his wife, Janet; Joseph's loving grandchildren, Kenny, Alena, Connor, Lauren and Ryan and his wife, Lucie; and his extended family of sisters-in-law, Merry and Virginia, nephews, Benny, Chris and Michael, and nieces, Ronnie and Cathy, will also miss him.

He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Jude Church, Mountain Top. All those wishing to attend are asked to go directly to the church for the 9:30 a.m. start.

Interment will immediately follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at McCune Funeral Home, 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top.

Memorial donations may be made in Joseph's name to the St. Jude's Catholic Church Building Fund, 420 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top, PA 18707, or the .
