Karen M. Klein-Coleman, 53, of Philadelphia, N.Y., formerly of Pocono Lake and Bear Creek, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at Samaritan Medical Center after a short illness.

She was born Oct. 11, 1959, in Scranton, the daughter of Robert and Mary Mackar Klein.

Karen graduated from Pocono Central High School and married Gerard W. Coleman on Dec. 21, 2003, in Pennsylvania and moved to Philadelphia, N.Y.

Mrs. Coleman worked for WPBS-DT as a master control operator in Watertown, N.Y. She was also a certified optician in Pennsylvania.

Karen was active in promoting the history of Philadelphia, N.Y., as the first secretary of the Philadelphia Historical Society, and also published the newsletter "The Historical Star."

She is survived by her husband, Gerry; her father, Robert Klein, Pennsylvania; and several cousins.

The funeral service will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. Burial will be in Pennsylvania.  Visitation hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday before the service at the funeral home.
